fuel pump pressure? (archive)

So, the stalling saga continues. . . Last week, I posted a question about stalling and Dwight and other had some good ideas. I did a little more research this weekend and noticed that the fuel filter between the pump and carb is usually half-full (or half-empty depending on your disposition). Anyway, is this normal? The fuel pump is less than a year old and the filter is new. I'm wondering whether the lines and/or tank is crudded up (a la Dwight)or if the shaft to the pump is bad. Should the filter always be full?

Thanks in advance. Jon
