: Once you pull off the cap, you will find (burried deep inside the grease) a C clip. Remove the c clip and apply force to the shaft. A press is easiest, but I have had success using a hammer and drift.

: : Heya all, I'm putting in a LSD and was wondering about the halfshafts. I'm trying to avoid buying 4 shafts at the junk yard, and assembling them there. How do you get the cv joints off of the shafts?? I took the cap off but couldn't see any kind of retaining devices. PLEASE HELP, I only have 1 week left with access to a junkyard before I go back to Alaska....

Be careful not to tip the outer cage beyond the normal axle travel limits (say 20 degrees) as the outer section will come off and it's harder than jumping through your own butthole to reassemble. Use REAL new boots two, those split boots are garbage. Good luck up in the last fronteir, I used to live in Juneau.
