: Heya all, I'm putting in a LSD and was wondering about the halfshafts. I'm trying to avoid buying 4 shafts at the junk yard, and assembling them there. How do you get the cv joints off of the shafts?? I took the cap off but couldn't see any kind of retaining devices. PLEASE HELP, I only have 1 week left with access to a junkyard before I go back to Alaska....

Milton, as you look at the center axle you will see a clip in a "c" shape around the axle (right in front of the CV joint). You can use a small screw driver to remove the "C" clip. Once you remove the clip you will need a puller to pull off the CV joint. Make sure that you apply even pressure. If you get it cocked to one side or the other it's a pain to get off. Another thought albeit it a litter more expensive, but far easier is to call Metric Mechanics. The modify the input shafts (the can be taken out of a 320is limited slip rear by applying even pressure to the shaft with a pair of screwdrivers) to accept a regular 2002 half shaft. Either way the 3.9 rear is really nice when coupled with a five speed tranny.
Good luck Sam
BTW you don't need to buy four halfs. Remember the outer halfshaft must retain the 2002 bolt pattern.
