Any problem going with a lower offset? (ie 15-20) (archive)

Are there any problems, or gains for that matter, going with a low offset on a 15x7 wheel? I just bought a set of P7000 195/50-15's (got em for $60 or so from the tire rack). Unfortunately, I am now having a most difficult time getting rims. I had originally planned on putting a multi-spoke alpina style rim on, but those I had found now seem to be discontinued. The tire rack swears that I can only put on 14's, we all know better. The question just becomes: Without spacers, and without rolling, what will honestly fit a 1-1.5" lowered car?
