I would sway more towards Steve's approach. This is the way I did it last January. I only replaced the trunk roundel however. Also, if you get new inserts (which came with mine) you can stick a pair of needle-nose pliers in the hole and tear out the old inserts bit by bit. This makes it easier to push the roundels out.
