: I've been reading all of the "desmog" topics over the past couple of weeks, and was wondering (as a novice, obviously) what is the purpose of the vacuum retard on the '75 and '76 cars? If you capped it or left it unplugged, what would be the end result?

: I'm needing to do the same procedure on mine, and want to weigh all the options. I'm currently leaning towards getting an older distributer to drop in.....

: Thanks!

What I know :
it was a smog control
you can turn the timing up and use it as is
you can block it off and recurve your distributer for quicker adv.
you can leave it as is and block it off and turn the iming down as needed ref fuel knock
I like vac adv but have use vac retardwith turned up timing.
