Anyone running an ELECTROMOTIVE or equivalent DIS? (archive)

I'm thinking about buying myself an Electromotive HPV-1 for the new mellinium and have some questions about triggering it. I noticed that TEP has a bolt-on kit for $725, but I've found the HPV-1 unit elsewhere (no trigger) for $385. I'm sure I could come up with a trigger unit for considerably less than $340. For anyone running a similar unit (I know there are a few of you who run full EFI systems and as a DIS is a subsystem of the EFI system, so you also) my questions are as follows:

It seems that adapting a hall effect trigger from a later car would be the easiest. Presumably, the later 320's and 318's have distributor with such a trigger. Anyone see any immediate problems with this?

If no distributor trigger, it seems fairly trivial to tack weld one of Electromotive's trigger rings to the outer crank pulley; however, where do you mount the sensor? It seems some sort of adjustable mount (to fine adjust TDC) must be fabricated. What have you done? Any easy starting points (ex someone makes one that is pretty close, is universal, or you can fab one easily from flat plate with a bend or two)?

Thanks
Josh
