I would also recommand a gel battery, it will avoid having all that messy white corosion stuff in your trunk. As for bolting the battery, you can either use only a tray (as I did) or buy a stressbar-tray combo from TEP or Ireland. It is nice and not really strengthening anything,but still nice.

On my car, the positive is directly bolted to the plus of the starter solenoid. Pass the positive cable in gauge 1 (no less), thru the interior of the cabin, going under the rocker panel, around the rear wheel arch and into the boot.
The ground goes from the battery pole to the shell itself.
