I've got a small household extinguisher mounted in the trunk. It's supposed to put out grease and electrical fires, it's not halon. It's small, less than a foot tall and maybe three or four inches in diameter, but I figure that it would definitely extinguish any fire on a person, which is why I carry it (see all sorts of weird stuff on the freeways in L.A.).

Re: Mounting. I used the plastic quick-release bracket that came with the extinguisher, but I mounted it underneath the rear deck in the trunk, in between the speakers. That way it's accessible even when the trunk's packed. Plus, releasing the tab allows the extinguisher to fall right into my hand. Standing on my head in my trunk to drill the holes in the underside of the rear deck gave my neighbors more reason to doubt my sanity, but now it's pretty trick.

Good luck,
