: i found in the arcives that the 2002 manifold has a bigger bore and so the head would need to be ported for it to work and this could cause trouble with air flow in that it would come back towards the manifold.see quote.....The proper way to do this is to obtain the 2 barrel manifold off the European 316. If you enlarge those intake ports on the 118 head to the size of the 2002 portts, you will most likely lower your compression and propbably slow down the velocity of the air rushing into your combustion chambers. You might want to check with one of the tuners. 1600 parts are rare compared to the 2002 and especially the 316 manifold, but they are out there. Did you try side drafts. If you go this route you can use the 1800ti manifolds since the heads are interchangeable. If you run Weber side drafts, go with the small 27mm venturis with 40DCOES. My friend had a 1600 with this set up and it worked well. I'm curently running just the stock single barrel, which works fine.
