: First make sure your battery has a good charge. Remove the coil wire, and ALL the spark plugs. Block the throttle open. Then have someone turn it over (about 6 revs) while you read the gauge. Thats all there is to it!

on a low one squirt some engine oil in and see if it raises the numbers' there many be a lot of oil in the motor already(blow by) and it might therefore read good when it is not
