Six months ago I purchased this car from a friend down on his luck. Body was in very good shape. Straight, no dings, and very little rust in all the right places; battery tray & spare tire compartment. And even then, the rust there was minimal considering some of the 02's I've seen for sale! Rocker panels, strut housing area, base of the rear window, etc, were all in tip-top condition.
Interior is in great condition, too. Dash has NO CRACKS. Passenger and rear seat has no tears - all original. Driver seat is the only seat that has some tears and shows any wear. No tears in the headliner. Carpet is still good, probably could use some cleaning.
The engine on the other hand need serious work. So, I forked out the cash to have the engine totally rebuilt. New higher compression Mahle pistons, Shrick 292 cam, new rocker arms, new everything - head totally redone. Went with new dual sidedraft webers....the works. Also having an electromotive ignition installed. 2002 Turbo Exhaust upgrade. Jet Hotted Stahl headers. AND a 320i 5-speed transmission upgrade to boot! I also bought new stock suspension parts (that will not be installed) but will be included in the deal.
But.......not long before I bought this car an Aunt of mine died. I didn't know her boyfriend's 911 Targa was under her name, and really her car! After all the b.s. involved in working out the will...car was left to me her favorite nephew!!!
Had to think long and hard which car to dedicate myself to since both can get pretty expensive to up-keep and maintain as a daily driver, but mom convinced me that the 911 definately had more sentimental value. So.....gotta find a good home for the 02. :(
Mechanic working on the car is out of San Francisco and the last time I checked he was done with the head and was about to work on the electrical and install the new ignition. Estimated time car would be up and running was the end of December, but I would say more the first week of January.
I have all my receipts to all the expenses I've had to make to get her this far and believe me, I'm going to be losing a lot of money. But I knew going into this that I wouldn't be making any money if I ever had to sell her, so I'm not going to even try. What's important to me is that she goes to someone who cares....
Please email me if you're interested. I will be taking photographs of different areas of the car and can forward them to those interested. Then after that if you're still interested we'll talk over the phone, then from there I will schedule appointments to take potential buyers to see the car in person.
Thanks for your time.
