: I'm thinking about buying a 1972 2002 w/ duel 40s. Im going to be heading off to college next year.Do '02's require too much attention for a diligent student?... I know you guys are'02 nuts but please be realistic.

As an extension of Cameron's post, the trick is to have the car properly set up before you go to college. If an '02 is well prepared initially, it then becomes a matter of routine maintenance (oil changes and tune-ups) and the car can be very reliable.

Buy a good, solid car (have it checked out by someone knowledgable before you buy) and then be willing to fix anything that may have been neglected plus do certain pre-emptive maintenance items (such as rebuilding the rear hubs). Then have a blast with confidence that the car will hold up as well as it is treated.
