My wife an I own a completely original 76 auto and love it. As I'm not particularly mechanically minded (I love cars but really have no idea how to do work on them) I had it tuned yesterday at my preferred mechanics shop and today it is running just beautifully. We have had it for about 18 months now. It was intended to be my wifes car but she has trouble wrestling the keys from me! I couldn't think of a better car for your daughter. For me it holds up great.
