Ugh...the transmission mount etc. should be easy to spot and check once you are under the car, but it sounds like something much more serious. You might want to check the engine mounts while you are at it.
Good luck
: Hello again,
: My mechanic finished the job...finally. Says she drives wonderfully and handles incredibly well. But....
: As my mechanic describes the problem as he was driving here: "at about 4200 in 4th gear there was a loud whirring noise followed by a VERY loud bang and the sound of little parts falling everywhere."
: Now there is a lound rhthmic thumnping in 1st and 2nd gear (with the throttle open) between 2000 and 3800 rpms, it sounds like the drive shaft hitting the trans. tunnel.
: Is it:
: the guibo?
: the center support bearing (which was just replaced)?
: the trans. mount?
: The diff. was replaced with all the suspension stuff that my mechanic did.
: Please help. My mechanic is headed back to Chicaog, so now I'm left with a wonderfully upgraded car...that's still broken. I'm tempted to tackle this one myself once I figure out exactly what it is.
: As always, thanks in advance,
: Sam
