: Hello again,
: My mechanic finished the job...finally. Says she drives wonderfully and handles incredibly well. But....
: As my mechanic describes the problem as he was driving here: "at about 4200 in 4th gear there was a loud whirring noise followed by a VERY loud bang and the sound of little parts falling everywhere."
: Now there is a lound rhthmic thumnping in 1st and 2nd gear (with the throttle open) between 2000 and 3800 rpms, it sounds like the drive shaft hitting the trans. tunnel.
: Is it:
: the guibo?
: the center support bearing (which was just replaced)?
: the trans. mount?
: The diff. was replaced with all the suspension stuff that my mechanic did.
: Please help. My mechanic is headed back to Chicaog, so now I'm left with a wonderfully upgraded car...that's still broken. I'm tempted to tackle this one myself once I figure out exactly what it is.
: As always, thanks in advance,
: Sam
Sounds like you need to get a different mechanic. He didnt say what he thought it was when he dropped the car off? Check the easy stuff first like the center support, trans mount , etc.
Delk may be right on especially if he says he heard the sound of little pieces after the loud bang :(
good luck Brian
