Hello Big Dog. I think the heat shield you are talking about is a fiber glass + resin shield that has the exhost manifold gaskets attached to it. I think you have it upside down. The shield is there to keep the heat away from the Plug Wires. I run Stahle Header and I DO NOT use the heat shield, just the gaskets. No problems over the last 10,000 miles.

: Most of you header types will probably be able to answer this, or anybody else! Anybody running with out that heat sheild that sits under the down pipe? I'm thinking of leaving mine off, and wondered what the reprocussions might be... TIA.
