Hey everyone, I need some advice. I want (no, really want) to get a 2002. I'm not new to BMW's I have a 2000 Z3 and an 82 320i (for sale, btw). What I don't really have a very good knowledge of is the various things to look for (and avoid) when trying to purchase a 2002. I'd like to stay with a '72 or older because I may find myself living in California and don't want to deal with the smog issue. I have seen several for sale in the local area for anywhere from $2200 to $6000. What is a reasonable price to expect to pay for a car that I could get in and start driving to work the next day without doing major repairs to? (Tune-ups and the such not included, of course) I have the advantage of living in a rust-free (or at least inhibiting) environment.

Any advice posted here or e-mailed directly is greatly appreciated. I'm sure I'll become a regular on this list eventually.
