There's a lot to be said about what you're experiencing... A lot has been said. Here's the quick $.02. Get a new set of bushings to mount the shift tower to the transmission. Get a BMP short shift kit, because it comes also with a new rubber gizmo that fits in the top part of the shift lever taking up a lot of slop. These along with a little MTL (Redline) and you'll not beleive the nice shifting. IMHO of course.
