Fischer is a German company which makes, among other things, storage systems for CDs and cassettes. They feature buttons which you push to pop-out a CD or cassette. I've posted the link to the distributor (Ted Watson) in Michigan.
I chose the DIN mount C-Box with 4 CD capacity. I wanted to reuse the holes in my center console which had been used for the radio face plate / speaker gill from my original Blaupunkt Frankfurt setup. I had an aluminum face plate fabricated which was about 6 1/2 inches in height and allowed for two DIN holes with about 3/4 inch above and below each hole. I painted the face plate with SEM texture coating closely matching the color of the CD-Player and C-Box faces.
For those of you who just have a face plate for your CD or cassette receiver, the universal mount C-Box could be used. The U-shaped mounting bracket could be attached to a plate below the receiver for use with either a 4 or 6 capacity C-Box. This has one advantage over the DIN mount in that the C-Box can be easily be removed from the car.
Like gauges or a roundel, a C-Box is just another alternative for filling that void below the receiver in the center console face plate.
The 4 capacity C-Box works for me because it will hold the Jimmy Buffett Boats, Beaches, Bars and Ballads box set, and that's all the music I need to get me from SF to the 02 Fest and back!
