Hi All,
I was fiddlin with my car the other day and wanted to stop the gear shift rattle. I didn't have a new plastic insurt, so I popped off the retaining clip to have a look to see if something else might work. Well, it seemed to me all I realy needed to do was increase the thickniss of the washer under the clip, more friction...I didn't have any washers that diamiter or thickness, but I do have a hammer and anvil... and what shop would be complete without some bailing wire. Well I took a 13/16" socket and wrapped it once around with the bailing wire. Leaving about 6" after the loop for a handle. Then I flattened it to about 1/32" on the anvil. AH'HA my spacer. To get the proper size, I clipped it to fit loosly between the plastic ball socket and the spring washer already there. Snapped in the clip and away I went, no rattle and didn't cost a dime. About ten minutes to do the whole job. So, for all you rat'lin gear shifters out there, heres and Oky fix that works. I don't gurranty any HP gains but it'll be quieter...see ya on the road
