I'll post some pics by tomorrow evening to show you the "mis fit". The rear ended theory is plausable but more likely the owner decided to give it the "new" 02 look way back when by adding square tails. That would explain the flat black painted aluminum grills, too.

: There was a '73 Baur Targa on eBay awhile back (click below) that had square tail lights. If you verify and post the VIN, I can get the date of manufacture from the 02 Restoration Guide.
