It drops the car about 1.5 inches. No bottoming problems, though I am conscious of the lowering and try not to fly over speed bumps and such. Ride quality is excellent, IMHO. It is firm, no doubt, but extremely controlled and not at all punishing. I'm sure you'd be fine with the HDs. The progressives are a big contributor to the ride quality. The way they work is to compress a set amount initially in the soft portion, then the compression slows down as the stiffer portion takes over. This basically helps the car "take a set" in corners, and absorbs smaller bumps more readily while being fairly stiff when you push it. You will of course have to put in larger anti-roll bars to maximize the effect of the package. I would say that, for street use, progressive rate springs would be the best option - I know I would choose them over linear rate springs - with Bilsteins and bigger bars. Hope this helps.
