Over the weekend i drove up to Napa and didnt notice any problems with my brakes. they do squeel every now and then but that just started a week or so ago. it started to storm on the way home and i hit a fairly large puddle that scared the crap out of me. thank god for quick reflexes and lots of expierience driving in snow and ice that i avoided spining out.

after getting my wits back i noticed the brake warning light glaring at me. the light will stay on for most of the drive then flicker for a bit then go out. today i noticed that if i drive up hill the light will go out. i checked the brake fluid and its fine. could there be a short from the water? i dont think its the handbrake, the light never goes on even if the handbrake is engaged.

is there something else i should be checking?

any help would be great.
