Why don't you start off with plugging all of the unneeded vacuum hoses 1st. You may have one of the 2 or 3 vacuum switches that are opening to atmosphere at the wrong time. The '76 California '02 is basically the same as the '75 US. Vacuum hoses running everywhere doing odd things at odd times.
