: Sounds like wiring - they're on separate fuses, so wouldn't go out because of a common cause. Check the wiring, for the back-up lights check the connnection to the switch on the tranny. Also check that the fuses are making good contact on each end - that is something bimmers are notorious for.
Check brake switch, under hood near left side
firewall, etc. I bet reverse is switch also.
