: I just purchased a '72 2002, and plan an restoring it. The brake lights and back up lights dont work. I checked the fuses and light bulbs. They are fine. Sounds like wiring, but was curious if anyone has had this problem, or if 2002's are notorious for this.

hey, John. For what it's worth, heres a related problem I'm having with my 72. The brake/back-up lights do function, but are somewhat funky. When I step on the brakes, or shift into reverse, my cd player temporarily shuts off. Oddly, this only happens when the motor is cold. Haven't had a chance to look into it, but, as others have suggested, I'm suspecting funky grounds/shorts.

happy wiring,
nico
