the SC on my '76 also has a circular clip with an ear which fits into the SC. This aligns the bleed nipple at the top. The circular plate mounts to the tranny ear with a 10mm fastener. I think I needed to remove this before the SC would come loose.

: Be real careful about pounding - if you crack the tranny "ear" you're in big trouble. I'd use some heat on that area first.
