I had my driveshaft totally rebuilt last year. It cost me about $325 to have new u-joints (greasable) installed, new center bearing, and dynamically balanced. The factory u-joints are pressed in and it's a lot of work to get them out. When they rebuilt the driveshaft, one thing they did is machine the yokes for retaining rings and to fit new u-joints.

This sort of thing is better left to the professional machine shop to do.
