: I have been a 2002 owner for the past 10 years or so and have found them to be incredibly fun and satisfying to drive as well as work on.

: I find myself in a "too good to be true" position where a friend of a friend is looking to find a "nice home" for his 3.0 csi.

: Can anyone share experiences w/ me comparing the two. I have lusted over the coupes fine lines for years and I know their reputation as rust buckets, but can compare the 2 in terms of ease of repair, drivability, parts cost etc.

: Any thanks would be greatly appreciated.

I bought a 72 3.0cs a couple of years ago and i was amazed at how versatile it is ,it gets decent gas mileage and cruises at 100 mph+ with ease , the 3.0 cs has four wheel discs to stop on a dime ( the 2800 has drums in the rear) , the car
is very easy to modify for increased performance
and if modifications are done with enginering skill it should not affect resale value. The 3.0cs
in my opinion was BMW's answer to Ferrari ,Maserati of the late 60's early 70's . If you compare the 3.0cs with photos of some of those same cars of Ferrari/ Maserati you can discern styling similarities , one big thing in those comparisons however is that the Beemers are a whole lot more dependable .
