I postede a similar note on the CS mailing list a few days ago - and although some of you may know of it - it is among my favorite 2002 humor bits:

In the original owners' manuals for our 2002s - there are photographs of a young child talking to our trustworthy lab coat clad BMW technician. These photo pages are at the beginning of each "chapter" in the manual.

On some earlier manuals there is a truly PRICELESS caption as the young lad asks:

"Mr BMW, My rear wheel squeaks like hell!"

followed by a little statement about routine maintanence from our trusted German lab coat friend.

On later manuals - this was replaced with the more appropriate verbage like:

"Mr BMW, my rear wheel squeaks horribly!"

I'd love to make the original one into a big poster for my garage someday - maybe I'll ask BMW fora blow up of the page!

I've seen it mostly in the 1971-1972 orange bound manuals.

I'll try and find more meaningful Friday stuff later this afternoon.
