1st rule of engineering: "Two things cannot occupy the same space at the same time". Generally, every design is a compromise. To have identical left and right seat brackets, the seat centerline will be off. It cost more to have 2 different brackets.

Besides, I bet the layout of the steering gear took more priority than the location of the driver's seat.
