Replacing guibo (archive)

I have to replace the guibo on my 73 tii, and am wondering about the excess shifter play. The mounting bracket that supports the shift linkage (shaped somewhat like a "A") seems to be real loose. Should it be loose? And can the bushings that mount this bracket to the trans. be changed with the trans. still in the car, easily?
