I am exactly where you are, I have a '75. The brake pedal got stiff one day and would not return, it stayed on the floor. I had just upgraded the rear brakes to 320i and bled them too!. If there is fluid in the booster you got a leaking master cylinder..time to rebuild it, or buy new...Better yet, replace it with a new or rebuilt 528, 530 or Tii. The Tii has a rear brake propotioning valve built in! Any of the 3 would do a better job than stock. good luck,John L.
:P.S. i still have not solved my stiff pedal problem yet, I am hoping it is the rusted linkage, like you mentioned..otherwise its "new booster time"
