: Definitely easier to remove the whole thing - starting at the diff. To torque, I put the bent 17 mm on the front side and a torque wrench on the bolt or nut on the back-of-th-car side.

1. disconnect the exaust in front, and push it to the side
2. remove entire drive shaft and mark its alignment with paint, so the two segments can be put back together in same orientation.
3. remove center nut of drive shaft....Pre-soak with lubricant, and apply heat to soften up as needed, a 15/16 flat wrench with part of the box ground down will fit between the two segments(buy one at sears, the longer the handle the better, then use a grinder to thin out one of the box ends until it fits between the two drive shaft segments). put a large pipe wrench on the drive shaft to provide counter tourque. I have had to use my feet...bouncing on the two wrenches to get the nut to give. Two people for this part is easier.
4. put on the new center bearing (it can be put on backwards, note the proper orientation on undivided drive shaft)
5. put drive shaft segments back together in the same allignment as before division (note paint marks on two halves from step 2)
6. reinstall...use an airgun set on med high on the guibo nuts, and a curved 17mm (one comes in the factory tool kits for the 02, and sr 6, and cs) to hold the back side lock nut. If you want to be sure use a tourque wrench...it may be hard to get one under the car with out a lift. I don't think you are taking a risk just making shore they are tight.
