: I'm thinking of buying a Porter Cable random orbital polisher for polishing/waxing my two cars. According to what I have seen in the Griot's catelog, it will not leave swirl marks or burn the paint. But others that I have talked to say stay away from electric polishers because they can do damage. Has anyone used one of these polisher with any success?

I have a Makita variable speed buffer that works great(if you know what you are doing).
The orbitals are safer and wont burn the paint if you sit in one spot too long or on an edge.
unless you have scratches or oxidation a good hand wax is the way to go
good luck , Brian
