: I'm thinking of buying a Porter Cable random orbital polisher for polishing/waxing my two cars. According to what I have seen in the Griot's catelog, it will not leave swirl marks or burn the paint. But others that I have talked to say stay away from electric polishers because they can do damage. Has anyone used one of these polisher with any success?

The bigger polishers, like the Porter Cable are aggresive, unless you know what your doing, and can finesse it, avoid it, try elbow grease or one of those $50 buffers( y'know the blue ones with the top handles) most car stores carry them. Easier to use and not so aggresive.
