'74tii sputtering after oil change (archive)

Changed the oil and cleaned the K&N air filter on my '74tii last weekend. Now the car sputters and idles very poorly. I noticed the breather tube from the manifold into the intake was loose so I patched that up. Car warms up quite a bit quicker and will idle ok onced it's warmed up. Basically any acceleration from 1000 rpm to 4000 rpm (in any gear) is accompanied by chugging and severe fluctuations in the tach. Once above 4000 rpm engine runs fine. I checked timing, changed distributor cap, rotor, checked points, and plugs. Looked for any vaccuum leaks but didn't see anything. I'm concerned that the oil filter might not be the exact replacement. Would a drop in oil pressure to the fuel injection unit cause drop outs? Sorry for the length of this message, any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm up in Montana so tii repair experts tough to come by.
