this sort of happened in the honda i owned. ther eis a thing called the PCV valve. (positive crankcase ventilation) it gets air flow going properly to the area behind the pistons. it should be changed during tne ups and what not. i have not even looked to see if my 2002 has one since i just bought it, and it is my first one. try that. if not i am sure others wil have some ideas. good luck.
