tach pick-up, wiring harness question (archive)

Where can I find the tach pick-up? Is it by the distributor or down by the transmission tunnel? I'm re-wrapping my entire wire-harness and I find 4 wires that
go through the transmission tunnel. Two are for the reverse light. They match the color-code from the factory wiring diagram. But I cannot determine what the other 2 wires are for. The color-code on these wires, cannot be found on the schematics. I'm wondering if they are for the tach.
