Wheel_ignition lock HELP! (archive)

Has happened once before, 1976 '02 parked and could not turn on ignition- wheels locked, steering locked. Rolled it a bit and it released. Has happened again but parked with wheels turned, can roll but wheels won't straighten- ignition locked- key will not turn. Have jiggled, pushed, kicked and cursed but it is LOCKED. Any ideas. Have heard it is a 'bug' w/ some '02's. Will jacking the front up and manually trying to straighten the wheels work?? Please answer as soon as possible?
