Marcus is right. However, if pulling the steering wheel one direction or the other while turning the key doesn't work, lifting the front end might take the tension off so it will. You won't be able to straighten the wheels - don't try. Just do the same wiggling of the strg wheel while you turn the key. There's a little metal piece that fits into a matching hole inside the steering column - when there's tension in the system it doesn't retract because it is hung up on the edge of the hole.
