: I need some help.

: I'm having what I think in a fuel system problem with my 72 o2. I have the old solex carb on it too.

: The problem is, I don't think that any gas is going through the carb. The strange thing is that I was driving it and it suddently just stopped. When I poped the hood to see the problem I notived that a piece of the secondery barel was in the carb and that the gasket is comming off and was hanging off into the primary.

: How did this happen? What does anyone think happend. THe carb is only about 5 years old and it has worked very well for me. I hardly ever even gets out of tune.

: Thanks,
: Chris

Chris, dont start your car any more until you have made sure that no pieces of your carb have gone down into your manifold and risk getting caught in between your piston and head/valves,this would not be a fun thing if it happens.it sounds like your carb is comming loose in a few places and needs to be put back together. it would be a good idea to rebuild it with a carb kit,but a better idea to upgrade it with a weber carb replacement. if you get a weber conversion be careful in air cleaner selection and attachment as i have seen people reuse the original air filter assembly w/studs and nuts holding it to the carb, and then dissaster happens when the nuts vibrate loose and get sucked into the combustion chamber and can be heard clattering the piston and head to death! So if you reuse your air cleaner use long bolts-they cant back out far enough to jump in usually. Most weber carb kits come w/ the clip on k&n type air filters that are hassel free.
Also i might mention that the last time i saw a two barrel solex fall apart like this it caused an under hood fire when the float stuck and poured raw gas every where and ignited when tried to start. So be very careful! and good luck.
