Exhaust system Tuesday--Advice today (DELK) (archive)

I am getting a new exhaust system put on Tuesday by a local Muffler Guru in San Diego, Ed Hanson. He wants to cut the old system out and from the downpipe put 2 1/2 inch pipe to a 28" glasspack (racing) then neck down to 2 1/4 inch pipe to a round turbo muffler in the original place and exit in the middle like stock (76) with whatever tip I want. Thinking of a larger round or square with inward rolled edges.

Does this sound good? Some have said to leave in the stock resonator and just go from the resonator back. It is said that I won't gain anything by changing this out. Money is not the real object here, but I do want a good system that will be ready in the years ahead for more modifications (as smog abates). I have 40 DCOE webers on the bench but am now running a weber 32/36 and 284 cam rest is stock.

Any comments.

Thanks

Mike
