You will need the C-shaped brackets from the 320 to properly install the seats in an '02. These brackets bolt between the seat and the seat rail. There are aftermarket brackets out there, but I've never liked the way they fit, and some of the ones with the adjustable height holes have been known to break easily.

Supposedly, the '02 is not technically centered, but it's not a problem for us drivers.

A few more things about the 320 Recaros...many of the seats I've seen at junkyards and at swap meets have been "twisted" or bent due to accidents or big guys sitting in them. These can give you the feeling of not being "centered". They're not the strongest of seats, and the bolster supports are known to break off the frame if too much weight is put on them, but can be easily welded if you take the seat apart.

And, the elastic supports under the bottom cushion are usually shot. These make you sit lower in the seat than you should, and make it harder to properly control the car. I think you can get replacement elastic from LaJolla Independent/Just BMWs.

Hope this helps,

vince
