: '02 nuts,
: You may recall I'm thinking of buying an 02 with a cracked thermal reactor. I hear replacements are expensive even for a used one. Then I heard somebody had welded one back to health. I saw a crack/break on the tube beside the reactor.
: Is This the usual spot for breaks, or in the unit itself?
: Is it stainless steel or what?
: Can it be welding with my MIG welder if I remove it?
: Is it smog legal if I do?
: Actually I'd prefer to dump it for headers but Cal. smog tests prevent this till 2006!

: Thanks.

I have seen a few of these reactors in the junkyards on 76'ers. You might be able to get one there. Failing that, just weld it up and spray it with cast iron gray and put the heat shield over it again. You just have to get through smog with it.
