Nathan,
Is your car using up the water? If so you are looking for a leak. It could be your water pump, but looking in the radiator won't tell you if it's leaking. If it's leaking, it will still operate just fine. You might also be leaking in your heater box (wet interior?), from the radiator, a split hose, or even into the interior of your block or head (will show as milky bubbles in your engine oil.) Don't forget also, that 2002's have a notorious problem with faulty gauge wiring, so if you're keeping the water in your system but it's still running hot, it may be a bad reading on your gauge. Search the archive about temperature gauge problems.
