If memory serves correctly (I'm reaching middle age if that tells you anything!), I think it goes something like this:

1. Turn the mixture screw in all the way until it stops, but don't overtighten!.
2. Back out 2 1/2 turns.
3. Start the car, set idle speed around 1k.
4. Turn idle mixture in or out until smoothest and fastest ilde is obtained.
5. Readjust idle speed to your liking.

Somewhere I read that if the mixture screw is outside the range of x amount of turns from all the way in, you may have to change the jets. I can't remember what the x amount is or where I read it. I think it's not much over 3 turns out.

There should be alot more info in the archives.

Good luck,
Devlin 72 02 Golf
