I too have seen these overrider bars - front and rear were available and I believed even dealer installed. I have not yet found a real BMW part number for them - but I have always thought them to be really neat additions to the pre 74 cars. They seem to offer little protection - but they are way cool.

If the one you have is a bit crusty - they can easily be rechromed for under $100.00 or so.
