I've got the stock tii manifold, stock resonator (probably useless since it appears to be original!) and a cheapo 2" flow-thru muffler that takes it all straight out the back. The muffler has a label that says 'Blue Streak' on it, but it looks identical to your average Cherry Bomb muffler I've seen at Pep Boys.

I went with this setup because it was the cheapest thing I could find at the time, having just rebuilt the engine. My mechanic welded two hooks on it to use the factory attachments.

So, how does it sound? Open, throaty, not buzzy at all. Around 3000 rpms it drones a little much, but 3500-4000 it really purrs nicely. Because of this I often find myself using 4th on the freeway (65-75mph), but at 80 and above, 5th settles down and works quite nicely.

Not sure if it's really like a 911...probably closer to a 912. But it's good. At WOT (Autocrossing, etc) it sets off car alarms and scares small children, but at half, it's deep, but not loud at all.

Here's a quick pic of it...

Good luck!

Andy -- '72 tii
